Biography

Steven Young, B.Ed., MBA, PMP, ICD.D • Chief Executive Officer of (AFREA), • Chair of the Alberta Community & Co-operative Association (ACCA) • Board Member of the Alberta Energy Efficiency Alliance (AEEA) • Alberta Criminal Code Review Board, Steven has earned a Bachelor degree in Education, a Masters Degree in Business Administration, and director certifications through the Credit Union and the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D) as well as a certified PMP project manager (PMP) and PROSCI change manager (PROSCI) A consultant, project manager, strategic advisor and executive coach, Steven has successfully guided companies and individuals through organizational change, digital transformation and pivoting in the face of economic, market and life changes. Steven’s leadership approach starts with team, where everyone is equal, but have different roles, those in leadership roles are the stewards of the shared vision, values and organizational culture. He is a regular lecturer at the Alberta School of Business and instructor at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in negotiation, mediation and consensus building. Retired as a Staff Sergeant after 20 years of policing, Steven entered politics and served as a Member of the Alberta Legislature and Chief Government Whip. His career across policing, politics, government, cooperatives, and multiple business sectors provides a unique perspective on how to navigate challenges, capture opportunities, and create organizations that deliver long-term value.
